To Help You Meditate -

Hold an amethyst and citrine while meditating. These stones help you become free from the physical boundaries and inhibitions that can hinder your trip to the astral plane.

Quick Time-Outs

There is nothing wrong with taking a quick break to refresh and relax yourself;  let's face it, sometimes it's the only thing that gets us through a particularly difficult day.  It doesn't matter if you are new to your meditation practice, or a 'seasoned pro', just make sure that you allow yourself a larger time frame once in awhile to really get into an in depth meditation practice - I promise you, your body will thank you for it!

The Beehive

Worries often buzz around in our heads like bees around a hive, creating a perpetual background hum of anxiety. To help retune your mind, imagine a hive surrounded by honeybees, each bee representing a niggling problem. Now visualize the bees disappearing one at a time into the hive, and notice how your mind also quiets.

Destiny

Since time immemorial, humankind has looked to the skies for spiritual guidance to try to discover its purpose in life. Meditate on the connection between the heavens and the destiny of humanity, starting with the stars and planets, then the moon. Feel your eyes gradually draw inward until you reach the sun, the heart of our solar system, the source of light and life itself. Close your eyes and imagine you can feel its rays gently warming your body until you glow with light.

The Garden

The mind is like a garden: it must be tended to prevent overgrowth. Spend a few moments each day pruning the garden of your mind. Remember that with each discarded flowerhead, you give a new bloom a chance to grow; and with each weed that you pull up, you make room for fresh green grass. Statues in your garden might represent each day's achievements, and a fountain might flow as a symbol of positive energy.

Give and Take

When life's demands seem overwhelming and we are constantly giving to others, it is easy to neglect ourselves. Imagine yourself as a pitcher pouring out your love to all around you, but remember that you, too, sometimes need an emotional refill. Take a few minutes each day to nurture yourself. The key to true happiness is a perfect balance of give and take.

The Isle of Calm

When we are tense or anxious, our breathing becomes shallow and rapid. To calm your breathing, imagine lying on a beautiful beach on an island in the middle of the ocean. You can hear waves gently lapping against the shore. Listen to the pattern of your breathing, then try to synchronize it with the inward and outward flow of the waves, until they become one‑the rhythm of life‑and your breathing is restored to its relaxed state.

The Lotus Blossom

Amid the frantic pace of modern life, it is easy to get caught up in material concerns and to neglect your spiritual side. To get in touch with your inner self, visualize a lotus blossom in a pond and imagine light pouring outward through the petals, filing you with radiant calm. Just as the lotus shines out from its muddy surroundings, so you will find that focusing on your inner self will restore harmony in your busy life.

Pine Branches

The pine is a Japanese symbol of longevity, fortitude and silence. Just as you cannot see the tops of the trees in a pine grove because they are too high, in the same way we can never predict the course that our lives will take. But if we ensure that, like the trunks of the pine trees, our inner selves are strong and secure, they will support us no matter how far from our roots we grow.

Many Faces

To be honest with ourselves about self‑identity is extremely hard‑it is much easier, and safer, to identify with labels such as: I am a doctor" or I am unhappy." True relaxation comes from casting off labels and focusing only on the true, inner self. Each day, spend five minutes freeing yourself from one of your labels - imagine lifting it off your shoulders like a heavy sack, and see how much lighter you feel.

The Stillness in the Flame

In the eye of a storm there is stillness. No matter what happens at any moment of each day, however hectic or troublesome things appear, or how many tasks we seem to be trying to do at once, we only need to turn inward to find a haven of peace. To access your haven, close your eyes and visualize a candle flame, letting its stillness fill your mind.

Swimming with Dolphins

In Western society, we often find ourselves trapped by less‑than‑ideal circumstances in the pursuit of material goals. For a few moments each day, allow yourself to stop striving and free yourself from worry. Envision yourself swimming with a school of dolphins in the warm waters of the South Seas, and share the dolphins' wonderful sense of freedom as they leap playfully in and out of the waves.
